Inspired by the upcoming election and the global turmoil that exists not only economically but also politically, culturally, etc.. I sat down the other day, and thought about what it is, that makes us disagree about so many things. I will not go into the political programs, and describe which part or party, I think is right in everything from global conflicts to our own little country here in Denmark.

I would rather give a suggestion to, why there are so many endless discussions that rarely brings any constructive things on the table. Why are these conflicts continuing to arise, why does small countries like Denmark, that I live in, not move particularly fast and constructively in any direction regardless of party, colour, cultural, religious or national background?

Now it is obviously a subjective assessment, but consider it more as an explanation of why, we as humans are so adept at creating challenges for ourselves create controversy and ultimately stop a particular development.

The explanation is not simple, because there can be many reasons for this, but a few behaviours stand out in everything from the public debate to our work, home and personal environment.

Behaviour Pattern No. 1: The fight for our identity

What a person does not have, can achieve or have achieved – is often made wrong by the same person, in order to provide security and recognition for his own identity and whereabouts. Unfortunately, this can be very strongly expressed, and people will go very far to practice this, as it is ultimately a question of sustainability of their own identity. This is not rare that people will do anything for such as killing each other. One’s identity and the maintaining of this, is one of the most powerful mechanisms in the human mind.

Behaviour Pattern No. 2: Super Goals

Dare we address the larger issues? Or are we just keeping it to the small issues. Too often, I see people discussing everything from how the spoons should be on the table, the time at the computer to whether there should be Coca Cola in the cafeteria or not or whether there should be saved or used in the governments “household” budgets. Because as long as we discuss minor issues and corresponding solutions, we will either agree or disagree, resulting in a time of “silence” where we calms down and finds a new little problem to discuss. Another example is when people get together on a common enemy or problem, which they will start to fight and sometimes conquer, and then go to their separate ways again and begin to fight each all over again.

If we do not link these up to bigger goals, what I like to call a “Super Goal” or a definite vision, these disagreements do not accommodate the differences that we already have as humans, and therefore we will discuss in infinity. A “Super Goal” is a goal or vision on something that we continually work towards, and that is not possible to solve within a short time horizon. Such as the optimum relationship, a golden future for ourselves, our children, the environment, global diseases, poverty etc.

Think about it: What’s new and revolutionary has come out of all our disagreements in the world, our own little countries, our workplace or personal relationships. Has it really brought something for us and our future, or has it only been redefined in a new context. Who and what have these disagreements ultimately helped?

Both practices create a platform for debate, which is characterized by guilt and blame, which does not solve any problems. Playing “The blame game” is often practiced in everything from politics to one’s personal life. Just to blame others for something, does not solve fundamental problem(s), – it only creates a terrible cyclus of blame that get more and more damaging. Looking at this from another view, our fundamental physical laws, we will learn that resistance creates renewed resistance.

The solution lies in leadership, for ourselves and others. To risen our horizons and see things not only from the tip of our nose but also from others. Whether it’s in one’s immediate perimeter or around the world as a whole. By deciding to go after so-called “Super Goals”, setting up a vision for the future of our countries, our surroundings, work and personal lifes gives space and room for development, instead of simply blaming, or discussing small issues.

Major changes require a good sense of major solutions

Keep Swinging

Who is right, who is best, what is right and what system is best?

The world is changing rapidly, ranging from the political scene to the financial and not only in the western world but just as much in Africa, Middle East and Asia.

But do we let ourselves be guided by – a system or the system. There is a big difference in the way of thinking! We think of our own or others’ system as the only one, and why does that make a problem. Many of us are not aware of this problem, because we are part of the system, and we only see it as a problem when or if we are not a part of it. Confused. let me illustrate it with some examples:

The ultimate system – You must think like that!

It may be our Western world, helping other countries out of their dictatorial system, by paradoxically imposes them our form of democratic governance – and demand a new way of thinking. Although they do not think like that, because there has been no tradition of that in country. They often have to trust their local clans, and now they have to have confidence in a national society, they do not know or only had very bad experiences with.

Or it may be the Arab man who feels trapped in his own country and the system because he idolizes a western system. Or the euro man, who feels trapped in his own world and culture that is characterized by democratic tendencies, where everything must be discussed, twisted and turned around without major visible progress, as a contrast to Asia.

From the political scene this paradox can be drawn all the way down to the level of the family, where the wealthy teenage daughter inexplicably begins an abuse. Harming her self, or worse, because she does not feel she fits in, or have access to the world and system, which she chose to favor, because it has been proclaimed as the ultimate. Or the young rebellious boys from the cities or foreign cultures that do not feel at home anywhere and therefore make their own rules and systems often influenced and inspired by strong personalities from the religious, fundamentalist or criminal world, which also impose their systems for more or less resourceful personalities.

When we base our world on a definitive system and impose other so. What happens is that we are forcing our own, our children or others’ personal development, either through force or abundance of things to help them manifest themselves, which creates an empty and unhappy life. Or we let ourselves prisoner in a world that is not good enough because we favor a second and definitive system

Integration and facilitating

We as people must all undergo a personal development with different values, expressed in various forms of mindsets or consciousnesses. – Try only to think of how you behaved yourself and thought 10-15 years ago. It is a natural and important process for us as human beings, which justifies that facilitating each other’s ways of thinking rather than to impose our ways and systems. It addresses the development of society, people and our selves, which is done differently and therefore should be treated differently and ultimately integrated instead of systematized.

Until we become aware of this, we can only see what is good and bad, and not integrate and enrich our own and others’ development both for our own society, system, and the world we live in.

In the hope of a better world

The world is in desperate need of leaders. Many have tried for just to be a repetition of somebody else or eaten up by the natural form of greed built into each and everybody.

But where will we then see our new leaders. Leaders with a vision we want to follow and not just money, power, network or the right experience and education. No, a compelling vision and future, that is what people wants to follow and what makes the leaders of tomorrow.

There is a lot of tendencies at the moment where to look for these leaders both in the business world, sport, spiritual or many other “worlds”, but one thing I have been giving some thought the last weeks is the development of the CSR (corporate social responsibility) within organisations and companies. Some just call it a business trend, other an extended version of HR or simply a smart marketing tool for the companies. Which one that is true, – if not all of them is impossible to answer, because of the different structure and ideas behind each company.

Although one thing is for sure, that the development of CSR is still relatively new for a lot of companies. – Which in my opinion is the main reason, why it still has its own term and is not built into the corporate politics with bigger budget and consequences? – By giving it its own term, it can have its own life.

A great consequence, because it gives a lot of unseen and unexploited possibilities and opportunities, because until now the common thing have been that each company have their own CSR politics, some more serious than other, but compare that to a early product launch of a new kind of products, that is new to the market, – same deal same strategy. What normal gives products a lot of value and a good takeoff, is when they find their market and partners in the market, so products gets a form of corporation with different brands (Chips and Coke (CC), Coffee and Cigarettes (CC) etc.) – In other terms they obtain a good match and penetration into the market among its customers and companies, which each brings something good to the table!

The same opportunity exists for the CSR politics. Companies can work and corporate more about a common CSR politics in combination with different products, services or whatever support the vision and goal within each company. Instead of making a half hearted CSR politic because it is the new thing to do, with an underlining purpose of some contribution to something, or what some people will call buying some cheap point with the customer.

Like buying a “ticket” to get free of you guild – like the Catholics have done in centuries and some still does! Handle this as any other product launch and work together about it and let companies and people work together about bigger things and visions. In a world with the degree of transparency as we have, companies and leaders of the new business world, who do this, will win not only the market but also people’s heart. – Because their does not exist any spiritual and organisational direction only a human orientation and direction. Win the heart of the people through a bigger vision and direction that is the key for tomorrow’s leaders and business, well supported by terms and trends like the CSR.

Keep Swinging
